I guess the fact that each weighs as much as a small child wasn't accurate enough? You'll have to wait for someone to put it on a scale, I haven't been able to find specific specs on the wheel including its weight.

David at Works weighed his stock wheels on a digital postal scale a long time ago and reported 20lbs. If you need more proof than his word, then I guess you're out of luck. That's about the best information we've ever had on the site regarding the stock wheels.

Perhaps not an exact answer about the wheel, but I weighed a stock wheel and stock tire together (mounted) on a bathroom scale and got 45 pounds.

Then I weighed an Enkei RPF1 wheel (17x8) with a Hoosier 245/40R17 autoX tire (mounted) on the same scale and got 35 pounds.

Note that the Hoosier is one of the lightest 17" tires you'll ever see -- but they aren't built to be streetworthy.

GramLight 57F

I just got the GramLight 57F, 17X8.5, 14.2lbs each. Not the lightest, but decent and decent price....

Plus they have that added "JDM-Pimp" factor in bronze on black EVO

Buddy Club P1QF in 17x8 is 14 lbs. That's very light. There is a big wheel weights thread in this forum somewhere that listed the weights for a lot of wheels.

Volk CE28N

My Volk CE28N's in 17x8 weigh 13.5#; my 17x9 Enkei RPO2's were cheap and weigh 17#. The Volks have the bronze anodized finish; if you want painted Volks, they're going to weigh more. They do have the JDM-pimp factor, as the other poster said. Warning, Volks aren't cheap.

You can run 255/40/17's no problem on an Evo with stock ride height and stock wheel offset (or close to it). If you lower the car, you'll need to get your offset just right. In the back of the car, there's a lot room to the inside and no caliper clearance issues. If you just drag race, 235's or 245's may be fine with the AWD traction.

Attached is a photo of the CE28N.

Enkei RPO2

Here's a picture of an Evo with the RPO2's, size 17x9 w/ +35mm offset, wearing 245/45/17 Falken Azenis tires. I like these wheels, and the Azenis wear very well but probbly aren't stickier than the Advans the car comes with. BTW, the Falkens are very tall.

Guestimated formula

Sport Compact Car published a very complicated formula a few years back. I was able to boil it down to a very rough, but easy, formula: 1 lb of lost unsprung weight is approximately equivalent to losing 5 lbs of sprung weight.

Example: you find wheels that are 5 lbs lighter than your current wheels. That's 5 lbs/corner, 4 corners, so 20 lbs of unsprung weight. Apply the "EJ Ratio" of 5:1, which will bring you to the equivalent of losing about 100 lbs out of the car (or the equivalent of one slightly overweight 10 yr old child, in Malibu Jack metrics .

Yeah, but I bet they're a LOT cheaper.

Has anyone seen a price for the stock Yokohama ADVANs?

BTW - some good info in this thread!

If you can lower your wheel and tire combo by 3lbs per wheel, the difference is very noticable.

Remeber when you go with light wheels, you should also look at the weight of your Tires. Toyo has pretty good specs on their tires at their website, and their tires are pretty light(T1-S)

Also, when weighing old tires, the tread lost could be up to 6lbs. So thats not a good test

i would say either the ce28n's or the le28's...they're for the lightest possible while the te37, etc are more so for large calipers
