another rpf1 thread
hey guys so im about to order rpf1's for my evo and had a couple question. i want an aggressive look but dont wanna deal with fender work as i am not slamming my car like a dub i wanna actually be able to beat the hell out of my car hence why i bought an evo... so i was thinking of going 17x9 with a 255 for a nice square look. now my question is do 17x9 rpf's look as terrible as the 17x8 were the spokes are rounded out? i only like rpf1's when the spokes sit flat like the 17x9.5's. and my final question is if i went with 17x9.5's with a 255 would i have to do any fender work to run them with a mild drop? any help is appreciated..

Yep, anything 9" or over have the flat spoke look. I am too considering the 17x9 rpf1 with a 255/40. It seems this might be a great combo for those that dont wanna roll their fenders. I have seen plenty of pics of the 17x9.5 with an offset of 38, then they throw a 20mm spacer to clear the brembos. This essentially makes the wheel a +18 offset. So with the 9 with a +35 offset, you would still need the 20mm spacer, and now your looking at a +15 offset. BUT, this wheel is only 9" wide, so your wheel will sink in a bit more.

a buddy had 255 on his 17x9 rpf1 and they looked to fit alright, but 255's on my 9.5 are a better fit IMO. The 9.5's seem to fit with out any mods but I haven't had passengers in my car yet or driven aggressively. I anticipate saving to roll the rears. My wheels are 38mm offset with 20mm spacers upfront (looks like 18mm would fit as well)

Like people stated before, you need to make sure you have the correct offset for your rims to fit. I will be running 18x10 +38 w/ 285x30x18. 15-20mm spacer up front. My previous set were 17x8.5 +30 RPF1's with no rubbing issues.
