Well, not to crowd the thread, then assuming for a second that is true (would be the first I heard that Mackin allowed such a vendor, but given that everyone is friends in this biz, it very well could be), then how could/would you expect a shop that has overhead, and employees, etc to compete with someone who does it from their? A bit of an unfair comparison honestly. I quoted Tim yesterday on the wheels he asked about, and the price was nowhere near the price you posted above......so we're not comparing apples to apples in one regard or another..

For reference

MSRP for CE28N in that size and color is $2120 without center caps, plus shipping.

MSRP for the LE28N is $2240.00, but includes center caps (since its an LE Edition wheel), + shipping.

We don't charge MSRP on Volks, and in fact, our pricing on a set virutally mirrors importhookup on most Volks, and beats them on many other wheels. Not to take anything away from them mind you, as we actually know each other, and I know the shop they operate through (as importhookup themselves is not a shop).

Adam

above......so we're not comparing apples to apples in one regard or another.

I thank all the vendors who have responded thus far and it is a close competition for the most part. I have not made my final decision and still have a week or so before I buy as stated in the title.

On the subject of vendors posting prices, in the future it will be possible for vendors to advertise and give prices in threads. The biggest problem in the past was the price comparisions by members and vendors alike which cause them to shy away from it.
Some rules are being changed in the near future and this is one of the issues. If someone pulls a price bash of a vendor then they will be handled appropriate via the rules. For vendors, they can simply start their own thread if they have a better price.
It's all a little rediculous, some people think that the other members don't know any better when they see a price. Most of the people on here have some experience with the internet and know how to shop.
For my money, even if I found a slightly better price somewhere else I think I would still go with one of the vendors on here because they are here to help all of us and all most all of them give great customer service to boot. Why would I go to someone I do not know to spend that amount of money when I don't know if they area scam or not. FYI I looked at importhookups before and the wheel link was broke, that alone makes me not want to go there for wheels. I have been buying all types of stuff on the internet for quite some type and only got screwed out of a rebate by one company that was a brick and mortar in NY for a camera. My fault because it was about price and if I went to say buy.com it wouldn't have happened.
Okay the rant is over.
