But is there anyways to prove the alignment is screwed up and they morally owe me a new tire and alignment?

Check tire pressure. Is there feather looking scraping on the tire? That is what a bad toe usually looks like. Best thing would be to threw it on an alignment rack. Check around your wheel well too for signs of rubbing.

Check tire pressure
Did that already didnt work

feather looking scraping on the tire?
Plz explain further

Sure as soon as I get home that is the first thing I will do. Come on man no one is letting you put your car on the alignment rack without 1. paying them 2. getting an alignment right after. And if I get another alignment I want some money for a preworn tire from the people who did it if I find out its out of wack due to operator error.

I will try its hard to do with a lowered car on the ground.

Can you post a picture?

I'm going to state the obvious again, tire pressure. What were the tire pressures at when you noticed the problem? Before you adjusted them? Was that one higher than the rest?

I've never seen an alignment causing wear on the middle of the tread. But with that said, when was your alignment performed(mileage) and how many miles has it been since? It's going to be very hard to prove something was improperly aligned if it's been more than 50 miles.

But a picture would be really really nice

So, not tire pressure, nothing is rubbing, and your alignment guy should have given you a print out of final readings. Not an alignment issue though. Its the tire. Tire seperation sucks. Get a new tire and shave it.

I'll go out on a limb and suggest that the majority of alignment machines in the country can be found in tire shops. Isn't that a conflict of interest?

What was your tire pressure at? I still think it's tire pressure, or your tire was over inflated for quite a long time... Also, friction can cause heat which will expand the tire. If the alignment was partially off a little and the tire was over inflated just enough, the heat will create expansion and cause the tire to wear more in the center.

I never said it was going to be free. Lets think about this.. If you have 1 bald tire and you bought all these tires at the same time, you took care of your car with proper maintenance and services, there is obviously going to be a mechanical problem. FYI there are places that will threw your car on for a free inspection. I think Less Schawb does that. Firestone also offers life time alignment for $150. Lets use some rational thought here dude, bite the bullet, you own a car, they cost money.

Where did you get your alignment done at last time? How long ago was it? What were the condition of the tires when you had this done last time? Did you hit anything since then?

Feather scrapping is caused by tires being toed out or toed in. This will cause scratching that is similar to the pattern on a birds feather. There will be scratch marks that are angled as if you drug a tire semi-sideways while driving on it.

Get us multiple pictures of your tire. Rotate the tire so we may see all the way around the tread. I'd like to see if this is happening in sections rather than all the way around.

What is this from? Bad Alignment, Packing too much stuff in the trunk and tire rubbing, Bad Tire? Also is there any soultion to this. Should I let air out of the tire, rotate them to see what happens? Any help is well appreciated in this.

When you say you have 3 good tires and one bad tire what are their tread depths? Can you get us a measuremnt with a tread depth gauge so we can find out how much different the wear is? What is your driving style? Are you a heavy foot and like to launch the car alot? I can probably see if you like taking the same turn on the way home in a spirited way it could wear out that same tire more everytime. Im not saying you are, but just a thought.

I will post some pictures today after I get off from work.

I try to check my tire pressures once a month since I live in a cold climate area. They were always around 29 or a little low due to the weather n I refilled the tire. But NOTHING over 30psi. I never adjusted the psi. Actually no that tire was not higher than the rest

when was your alignment performed(mileage) and how many miles has it been since?

It was performed Dec 2011. Off the top of my head I would say abt maybe 5k miles MAX but I should have my receipt at home to verify.

Tire separation? Never heard of that? Could it be a faulty tire your suggesting

Its pretty visible I don't have a tire depth gauge but when I take pics I will stick a coin in the treads so you can gauge the difference.

My driving style is pretty conservative spirited runs are not very frequent gas is way to expensive for that. I maybe get on it twice a month on the highway. I have never launched this car EVER! Also, my route home isn't the same everyday and I just started working in March. Great thoughts tho thanks

That is what I am trying to figure out so it doesn't happen again.

I live in the NE never even heard of Less Schawb and after I googled them they only have locations on the West Coast. There is a Firestone around me but I don't feel like paying 150 to find out if the alignment is already on or not. Then if I get another shop to touch the cars alignment I cant b1tch at the shop who did it wrong in the first place. If it has been touched by someone else.

Lets use some rational thought here dude, bite the bullet, you own a car, they cost money
I realize I might have to bite the bullet and pay for it. But if there is an opportunity to avoid having to pay for it since it if it wasn't my error I am going to research it and take it.

I got it done at a local shop I am not going to say there name here because people on this forum may go to them and if there not at fault they might get flamed for no reason. I got the alignment Dec 2011. The tires didn't have a problem with them at the time. No I didnt hit anything since then.

I am going to try and get pictures tonight hopefully its gud light out when I do.

Cool dude, looks like you're on the right track. Often an alignment shop will have a warranty for the alignment. What is your alignment warranty? It hasn't been 6 months yet.

How does your car feel when driving? Have any of your friends noticed any signs of dog tracking? Hopefully all your bushings and suspension are in good shape

Call around anyways to see if places do free inspection, if there aren't any, then at least you tried. I don't know if you already have (since I'm on my phone) it wouldn't be a bad idea to contact the place you got your alignment done and talk to them about your problem. If they're a reputable shop they should rack it for free. Or on the cheap, especially if it means return business...

I am not sure wht my alignment warranty is but its deif something I need to look into. All my info on the alignment is at home something to look into tho.

Now my car seems to be be liking leaning to the left while driving.

Very true just I am not close to the shop where I got it done at the moment. It was no performance shop just a basic in and out place so im hoping they have insurance for things like this since its part of a big chain.
