put new wheels on and car pulling hard under accelaration

Basically , I took my stock bbs 17's off and put on some 18x8.5 rims. When accelerate I aggressively , the car will pull hard to the right. Any ideas? The tires are all good and when I'm driving normally everything feels fine.

If changing wheels is all that was done I'd ask if the new wheels are new or used? but I'd think a bent rim to pull like that.

They are used wheels but I do not see any bends at all. I figure if the rim was bent the ride would also be really a little bumpy. It rides very smooth

you wont be able to visually see imperfections.
did you buy the wheels and tires as a package? or did you have tires mounted on the rims?
i bought a set of used stock bbs from some douche that said they were perfect.
UNTIL i went to discount to get tires mounted on them and they would not balance, the wheels were wobbling like crazy. visually they were straight, but on the balance machine it was a different story. sadly i lost a lot of money with this guy.

so if that is all you changed, if i were you, i would go to discount and see if the wheels are balanced on the machine. i mean all you did was change wheels, so a lot of variables dont come into play here. logically, checking the wheels/ tires is the first thing to do.

Thanks for the replies guys. I guess it is just a bent rim. Sucks. I only paid $100 for the rims though so I'm not mad about it. Maybe someone with a really slow car can enjoy them.

Put the stock bbs back on and it drives like normal again.

check alignment. i bet it is not set for the bigger wheels and offset. it will be more pronounced with wider and bigger wheels compared to your last set up.

did you have a shop spin the wheels on the balancer to check roundness>>?? check them there.

good luck.

But it drives perfectly fine with the OEM bbs wheels. I put them back on after the 18's and everything is normal. The 18's were also balanced but I was at a backyard tire shop kind of place so maybe they cut a corner.

alignment with a out of round wheel will cause your alignment to be totally wrong.

swap the wheels from left to right and see if your pull changes. The tire and wheel can have variance whether its a slightly out of round wheel and or tire.

Please explain. The vehicle isnt moving on the alignment rack other than steering the vehicle from right to left in order to get the machine to get the readings. Since its not moving there is no way for the machine to know if your wheels are true.

Out on the road I would think that your alignment wouldnt really be off with a out of round wheel, but your wheel may not balance or may take alot of weights to balance.
