Size of threads on In/Return of Power Steering Rack

Hey EvoM,

Since my motor is out I'm doing what I can to clean up my engine bay. I'm in the midst of setting up stainless lines for my power steering setup, and need to know what size the threads are for the in and the return on the power steering rack to I can get adapter AN fittings made!

I called ChaseBays who makes this kit and they wouldn't tell me the size of the threads. It was worth a shot

My system is completely hooked up at the moment and don't want to rip it apart before I get these fittings.

Thus, if anyone knows the size of these threads, that'd be awesome.

Thanks!!!

Scratch that. I got those sizes! I now need the size of the bolt on the pump itself.

I don't know the size but I'm gonna be getting ss lines for my steering rack as well. I already relocated my acd pump to the trunk and what I did was take those lines to a local hydraulic shop to have AN fittings made. They even assembled the lines with fittings for practically nothing. I would just do that. If I happen to get my ss lines for my steering rack before you I'll let you know what I ended up using.

Idk why when OP said he contacted these companies they wouldnt divulge the thread pitch info. Its not a super secret, just takes an extra step to figure out the thread pitch. You can just remove that adapter fitting and take it in to a hydraulic shop or hardware store and find out for yourself. IMO I will find out regardless, but if you make me go that extra step instead of just telling me, then pretty much you will lose my business for any future purchases. Its not in the same league like calling Buschur and asking what his ptw clearances are.

if I had to GUESS I would say its a 14x1.25 thread pitch. Mitsu seems to use a 1.25 thread pitch alot so if its not 14, then maybe 12. I mean buy a few bolts in these thread sizes and see if threads in, not so hard.

Well, I unfortunately had to remove the fittings from the rack and pump and figure it out for myself because they want you to buy their $15 version of a $7 fitting that I can get from any fitting guy.

It's just like how people sell "balance shaft inspection breather fittings". I found the thread size and had one made for like $5, when STM and ToxicFab sell them for $15. It's the name of the game brotha.

I'll dig through my receipts and see if I can't figure out these sizes and update this thread once and for all.

Edit:

It's been so long I can't find anything. I have a few fittings for it still, but don't know which is which, and I'm not about to drain my power steering fluid to find out haha. I exchanged all of the info with Collin about it, but that PM is long gone.

I believe one on the rack is a 3/8" NPT to -6an (assuming you're using -6an line), and the other is a M16x1.5 to -6an. I would verify this before picking the stuff up though. I went to school and lost time to do the project.

If someone does find out for sure, UPDATE THIS DAMN THREAD FOR GOOD SO WE KNOW lol.

whats the size of the return or low pressure fitting on the rack?

ps I talked to colin about running an fittings on the rack high pressure side and he said he had problems with it leaking. Not sure how he resoulved that.
so I am using the stock high pressure line
