from what these two thread state, especially the second one, if the powder coating was improperly applied, or if the heat was too hot, you could have weakened the wheel in the process.
Wheels can get hotter than 350 if the brakes are being pushed on a track. I talked to the Materials Science engineer at my work and he does not believe that 10 minutes at 400 will alter the structure of the aluminum that is forged and heat treated at 350.

Also, that second link you posted does not support that powdercoating will ruin the wheels.

RPF1s aren't that expensive. At least this didn't happen on a Volk wheel. Then again, most of the Volk line is forged instead of cast so this probably wouldn't have happened...

Not for a crack, and not on a cast wheel.

Casting and forging are an entirely different process. RPF1s are cast.

OP could try contacting Enkei.

I am pretty sure Enkei powdercoats their wheels from the factory but you would have to check with them to be sure.

Did the OP actually get them powdercoated or is he simply talking about the factory finish being powdercoat?

Doesn't matter. Unless he had the aftermarket powdercoat done by enkei themselves, hes probably SOL.

I don't think OP would refer to them as powdercoated if they were stock...

it seems like like they were podercoated from a shop.
could be a case of 2nd hand wheels that were powdercoated to look new.

You're most likely right, but maybe not. I've never dealt with them on warranty/damage issues.

Yeah. Warranty is voided if it's been powdercoated by someone else besides Enkei themselves.

Funny thing that warranty was mentioned here because I saw Enkei post this up on their FB wall. At the bottom of the description, it says "FYI: Enkei warranty is voided if wheels are powder coated."

+1 on that that. All warranties are voided if the wheel is powdercoated not just them but all wheel manufacturers are like that unless they are the ones that do the process
