Well I'm about to purchase the Privat Fahren wheels, Discount Tire did a test fit of the wheels, 17x8 with a 20mm offset, they said it works.

My question is, with the offset of 20mm is that going to have any adverse affects on the car i.e. affect steering effort, handling and overall stability, improper loading of the wheel or hub bearings.

In short, no. So long as you use an offset meant for your car, your suspension, etc. will be fine.

 

I honestly dont think a wheel with a +20 offset is meant for the Evo.

The stock Evo wheels have a +35 offset so the centerline of the +20 offset 8" wide rim will be pushed out an extra 15mm. IMO thats bad news for wheel bearings.

Honestly it won't hurt anything. All it'll give you is a wider track width which in turn means a little more stability. But I actually think this setup will rub...

 

hold on, now i know that subaru and mitsu are totally different, but when you go with a wheel with an offset that is almost 15mm different on the suby, people tend to eventually have wheel bearing problems. is this not so with the evo???

 

well subies are built like crap! j/k I've never heard of this and I know plenty of people with wider and more aggressive offsets on their cars vs stock. None with wheel bearing problems.
