An 18" wheel is definitely legal in STU. There's no limit to wheel size, tires are just limited to 245 for AWD.

Hmm I could have sworn width was unlimited but diameter wasn't. O well everyone competitive runs 17's in stu.
Thanks for clearing.

Never noticed that, it does say unlimited under width. The Evo X's come with 18's but 8/9 do not so maybe its not legal???

EDIT: Any wheel is allowed, he's right. Thx

If you're looking at RPF, I'd try the 9" (believe its +'2X') with a 245/40. You'll get better acceleration and less roll over at the expensive of a shorter tire.

Hankook recommends up to a 9.5" wheel on the 245/40/17 R-S3. The wider the wheel the better it seems on the R-S3 tires. I'm running an 8.5" wheel on a 215 (max recommended is 8" wheel) on my E36 BMW and they are awesome for auto-x, minimal sidewall roll with great turn in. The stretch makes me nervous on the street though and I would have rather had the 225 (max 8.5" recommended) but they were out of stock at the time.

I'd probably do the 17x9.5 +38 RPF1 wheels and then use a spacer to clear the front caliper and pick up some front track width while doing it.

This is exactly what I'm planning for next year on my own car
