The spring goes over the strut. That's why it's called a coilover. The internet has a way of incorrectly naming things.

Just a technician joke

if you are stuck on coilovers, get the bilstein pss9 kit. they are about $2k new and the best option that wont rattle your teeth out. used sets pop up fairly frequently too.

Ask yourself what color you want and go from there lol
I run cheaper Coilovers because of fund issues at the time and if I could have kept saving for something better I would have.

I almost bought a set of AMR's off of DallasJ on here. They are local to the west coast and custom built. A little more expensive but from what I gather they are a little more purpose built. Not too many people run them and you can PM DallasJ for more info.

If you can snag a set of used KW's/H&R's or Ohlin's and they are reasonable (I know some people sell their stuff on here like its gold), then jump on it.

Otherwise those are your choices. I have used BC Racing, Tein's and Fortune Auto's (On my wife's car). We've had some issues on the STi inherent to that suspension setup I wasn't aware of before I bought them I probably would've bought something else. I know its a different platform but I wanted ot give you real world advice based on my experience.

Good luck.
I bolded these brands due to one commonality; serviceability. Where are you going to find parts or get the coilovers serviced if they go bad? If you can't find somewhere reputable that does it, don't buy it.
