advan vs pilot sport a/s
advan vs pilot sport a/s
i have about 5k miles on my advans and will be buying new tires at about 6k miles, since the advans are getting worn. i have pilot sport a/s on my wrx, and they are really great, and feel about as good as the advans, but it's hard to compare the two since the evo has so much more power and corners differently. i'm tempted to put some a/s on the evo, but am afraid i'd just burn them up faster than the advans, with less grip. [i do no dragging, just lotsa twisty roads] anybody tried a/s on the evo, how did they feel, how are they lasting?

The tires work very well, but in different ways. Drag racing will shorten the life of any tire, but the Advan would hook up a bit better. It really depends on what you REALLY want out of the tire. Longer life, better ride, all season capability, and wet traction will come from the Michelin. Dry handling, cornering, steering response will come from the Advan.
The Michelin is a great tire to have, however, you honestly cant compare it against the Advan because they are so different.
If you liked them on the WRX, I don't think you would be disappointed having them on the EVO.

My friend has an EVO and replaced the advans with the Michelin A/S Very expensive!! The treadwear is rated at 400 compared to the advans 160, which goes to show just how much longer you can expect to drive them compared to advans. The ride is more comfortable, and they are more suited for bad weather conditions. He let me drive his car one day and I immediately noticed the quick turn in of the advans was gone, but still much better than most cars. I'd compare it to my old integra gsr. The ride was noticiably less jarring and traction felt pretty good in this cold weather compared to the advans. As for looks they appear to be more narrow than the advans on the stock wheel. The advans fit perffectly on the stock wheel and the michelins appear not to fill the wheel as well.
