Coilover problems...

I have a set of JIC FLT-A2's that came on my Evo. I recently performed an alignment and discovered that the front right shock adjustment is inoperable. It will not turn in either direction. They are not leaking or anything, but I do not know how old they are. I do know that the rear's were rebuilt last summer and look to be in great shape.

After looking at JIC's website, there rebuilds are pretty high. 500 bucks plus shipping is a lot to sink into some used coilovers. I was just curious to see what people's opinion's were on getting these rebuilt, or putting the money into some other kind of coilovers.

Thanks in advance.

$500 is actually no t bad...and considering they will be like new once done. A friend of mine paid $1200 to rebuild a set of Ohlins.

Yeah but then he ended up with Ohlins, not JICs.

<-----not a fan of JIC....

500 for 4 coilovers isn't bad but you might just be happier with a different set-up all together.

I understand that the JIC's aren't at the top of the coilover ladder anymore, but it's what I have so I have to deal with it for now. The spring rates are really high, like 10k in the front and 12k in the rear. I plan on autocrossing the car this season and from what research I've done, they aren't the best rates for that.

I have seen and heard good things about the Fortune Auto stuff...

Ha, 500 is for TWO coilovers. Not including shipping there and back. If only the rear's hadn't just been redone...lol.

Also, if I want to change spring rates, they have to be re-valved for what I choose and that's another 100 dollars per coilover...

I would just get those two rebuilt, although i think thats a little pricy for just the front 2 its cheaper then any other option.. unless you have a serious urge or reason to change the setup? just my .02

After daily driving the car for the last few days, I am seriously considering going with softer spring rates. I have a highway commute, and even at that the ride is bone jarring. Maybe I'm just getting old...

We've run 8k/10k and 10k/10k on my buddies car that I setup with ohlins and they ride just as good as my winter bilstein/gtworx setup. Ride quality is all about the shocks.

You're 10k/12k setup is a good place to start with street tires or smaller dot slicks but you'll see a fair amount of front dive/inside rear pickup.
