I remember seeing them somewhere for like $500 per wheel. Not worth it at all IMHO. I mean, we're talking about heavy, 1-piece, cast wheels! You can get custom 3-piece forged wheels for the same money.

Check out Kinesis wheels for some amazing examples. These are very popular with the Porsche and BMW crowd. The model K27 looks a lot like stock Evo VII wheels, but much higher quality. Stronger, lighter, more durable, and available in custom sizes. You can get them annodized in various colors, polished, or painted whatever custom color you like (they'll even match the paint code of your car if you want). I plan to order some K27's in annodized grey for my Apex Silver Evo.

IIRC, Kinesis sells their standard 17x8 inch wheels for about $500 each if you go with the standard finish (annodized grey center, polished lip). Custom finishes cost more. The 18-19 inch sizes cost more (obviously), but the K27 is only available in 17 inch diameters. But they probably don't have a standard model that will fit the Evo since we use a funny bolt pattern. They can custom make a wheel with just about any bolt pattern, offset, and hub diameter...so you never have to deal with spacers or any of that B.S. You will need to ask for a price quote.

Anyway, $500-600 per wheel is a really good deal when you consider these are light-weight, strong FORGED 3-piece wheels. I've seen these wheels on a bunch of Porsches and M3's. Quality is comparable to BBS. Also, this is a company that is geared towards racers and very respected in the motorsports community. Kind of like Forgeline or Jongbloed. You see tons of BMW CCA and PCA club racers running Kinesis wheels.

For some reason, everyone on this forum seems seduced by JDM stuff. You see people dumping $2-3K on 1-piece cast wheels just because they're poplular in Japan. Meanwhile, you can get real 3-piece forged racing wheels for the same money right here in the US. Here are some other examples: Kodiak , Weld Racing , Bogart Racing .

I would check lancerregister.com in the for sale section. It is based in the UK and you can probably find wheels for much less than $500 per. I'm not sure what it would cost to ship though.

As an example, I recently saw EVO VI rims (my favorite btw) for about $400 for 4.
