Because diamonds are harder than spinning triangles.

apples to oranges. I would own both if I could, the evo is more daily driver friendly which is why i bought one over the fd. also... i like my doritos stacked in threes.....

It just all depends on what you want. I used to own a 93 rx7 making 408@15lbs. Now I'm in a 2006 Evo Ix.

Do a search for apex seals and then cross the RX7 off your list.

I absolutely love the FD, but I wouldn't own one unless it was truly a project car that I didn't need to depend on for routine/regular transportation.

They are not many rotary specialist where I live. If they are it would be hours away. If you plan on getting a rx7 I hope your doing all the work. I still miss the top end the rx7 has. Don't miss breaking traction though.

I had an RX-8 before my Evo X. Car got a lot of ****, but it was a **** load of fun. Ironically, it was the FR-S/BRZ before it was cool. That said, I had to have my engine replaced under warranty at 60K miles. Maintenance on a rotary project car will be on going, so it's a $ pit.

HOT STARTS? lol. FC/FD sound very cool and were an enjoyable rwd with great weight balance. But Evolution, AWD, Look awesome, and not a "scarce" rotary engine.

because rotary motors are junk.

I've owned a twin turbo FD RX7, and it SUCKED. Terrible car. Beautiful, sporty, junk.

I wouldn't call it junk. I absolutely loved the engine. The power delivery is pure sex. It's great to drive. You just need to have a team of mechanics that know what the hell they're doing to accommodate it, and they're a dying breed.

To the OP, as far as reliability, there's really no comparison. Tuned Evos are very common, and it's easy to find people to maintain a turbo 4. There's always quirks in any model you'll ever buy. It's up to you to do the research to address the 'breaks' before they occur, and mod accordingly. As far as the best year, that's subjective. In terms of raw power/racing platform, the VI-IX's are preferred. X's are preferred if you're going to daily drive it while being a car that responds very well to mods. Try test driving them, and see what you like most.

ive owned a 93 rx7 for almost 2 years and its been a blast. i bought the car for 8k and added 4k to make it reliable. it still ahs the original engine but i doubt it will last more than another 20k miles. i had it tuned by a guy named steven kan and he is the master of power fc.
