I owned an FD RX-7 a few months back. Only had it for about 3 months, great touring car but HORRIBLE gas mileage. Luckily I had a low-mileage car (48k) but it was still giving me some reliability problems. A lot slower than my Evo 6 as well.

Having owned one, I'll take an Evo any day.

Not exactly a fair comparison being the rx7 is roughly 10 years older, of course theyre going to be cheaper...but you can find cheap evos, theyll just have mileage on them.

Horrible gas mileage, honda like torque, oil consumption problems, cooling issues, and need to be rebuilt often. 1.3L's of fail. Theres no comparison to an Evo of any generation and its 4G63.

$12-15K is fairly cheap for an FD RX-7 or an Evo. If your budget will only allow you to buy a cheap example of either car, I would advise you to come back when you have saved some more $$.

Whether you are buying an RX-7 or an Evo, both need a lot of maintenance. That maintenance will eat you alive if the previous owner(s) did not keep up with everything. If it's a cheap example, you can bet that the previous owner wasn't maintaining that car properly.

Sure, there are bargains out there. But you gotta really know what the [EXPLETIVE DELETED] you are doing, or you will end up buying someone else's very expensive problem.

It seems clear you're an RX-7 guy, which is cool. I just don't see the point in coming to an Evo forum to get validation lol. WTF. Drive your car, and enjoy it. It's 1 of the most rewarding and unique cars to drive. You don't need our opinion to relish your purchase. Most people here will disagree with you for obvious reasons.

Haven't you seen Initial D? The FD always beats the Evos.

The evo was the car I was going to purchase when I bought my rx7. I still would like to own one in the near future. Especially when I have kids which could be in the very near future.

Having driven AWD the last 3 cars, I think you should definitely consider the FD since its RWD. I'm sorry but AWD does not have the same feeling as RWD. Its just more fun and makes you a better driver.

Also the FD is a beautiful car and its true that the Rotary is unreliable so find an RX7 with an LS1 with all issues sorted out. I was looking at one before I got my TTRS.
