I've never been a fan of swapping out the rotary for a piston engine. Defeats the whole purpose the RX, and throws off the balance of the car. Just get a Vette lol.

I'd personally recommend a S2 RX-8 R3. 'Slow' but among the most fun cars you can drive. Also very easy to drive at it's limits. While my X is definitely better, I miss the feel of the RX. Nothing like revving that b*tch out to 9k with a perfect shift.

If I knew how to build rotaries there would definitely be a 20b in the rx7.

Also the FD is a beautiful car and its true that the Rotary is unreliable so find an RX7 with an LS1 with all issues sorted out. I was looking at one before I got my TTRS.
This is a great point. I have heard that people swap LS1s into their RX-7 as well and the LS1 sorts out all the issues with the rotary engine.

I also wonder why don't people swap a 4G63T, RB26DETT, or 2JZ-GTE into their RX-7 (more often, instead of only being a niche choice)? Wouldn't that, on top of reliability, also make it easier for tuning and modding if you'd like AMS, ETS, or other import performance shops to work on your car?

I've seen an RX7 with LS1 swap and recaro seats. DAMN sweet looking ride.

I've decided that my next fun car will have a V8. V8s are THE performance car engine to have. If you could choose between a V8 and an I4, I don't think there's any question which is the better answer.

But the point about just get a Corvette is right on, I think, a C6 Z06...
