My Advan exploded
My Advan exploded
2 weeks ago my friend and I moved to SoCali from NVA. It was a fast fun trip and it took us 2 days because we did not realy stop and we went fast most of the time. will every thing was ok until this happend. this is the right back tire and as you can see its in hhhaaaa bad shape. i was mad and lost when it happend since we were in the middle of no where at night, and no one even had the same size. anyways people were nice there and they helpd, oh by the way that was in little rock. Could not take any more pics since my camera died on me.
will it had only 7000 miles and it looked like new. now i asked the guy who repleced the tire for me and he said that this is one of the best tires he ever seen in the past few years and what happend was that a small nail went in it and for about 20 miles the tire started to loose air and i could not feel it becaue this tire has a very thick wall on the side, the roads were bad as well so i could not tell what's going on on 100 miles per hr. so i was driving on a flat tire for about 1 mile with out knowing until it ripped offf.
about excessive time at high speed i did some research on that as well and turned that this tire should handle realy high speeds for hours if not days with out stooping

This is why tire inflation sensors are a good safety item. I think they're supposed to become standard OEM-installed. One time I had a flat and I didn't know until a driver in the next lane told me (I was stopped at a red light). Low profile tires make it harder to feel a flat.

did you check your tire pressure prior to the trip?? I think you may have over inflated it.

This is what happened with those Firestone tires on the Ford Explorers. Ford recommended tire pressures that were too low for the weight of the truck. The ride was too rough, so Ford suggested absurdly low tire pressures to soften the ride (rather than spending $$$ to design a proper suspension). That's what the whole Firestone vs. Ford battle was about. Firestone took the fall for Ford's corner cutting.

Clearly an overheated tire! As I mentioned in the pm to you a few weeks back, just be glad it happened on the rear an not up front. A blow out at 100mph is usually a lot more violent when it occurs on the front wheels.
btw Any luck getting a job?

I also had a flat once from a nail. I had it on the passenger side front. The tire didn't have any air in it but the funny thing is, the tires are so good that my car didn't pull to the side at all so I didn't even know I had a flat until I got home and heard a funny noise when I went over a bump.
Usually when you get a flat (especially in the front), your car will start to pull to whichever side you have the flat on.....The advans just didn't do that. I don't know if thats a good thing either though because in that case, your rim might rupture the tire eventually and ride on the ground and most probably bend it.....
