Suspension Set Up Question

So I think that out of all of the things I know about cars setting up the suspension properly and knowing what parts to upgrade is where I fall short.

My Evo is currently undergoing a huge build, Buschur 2.3 with all the goods, BB FP Black, Shep drivetrain front to back, the works.

For suspension I opted for the Fortune Auto 500's and since I am going all out and intend to use this car as a DD and track car I wanted to get some feedback on what else I have planned and find out if I am missing anything.

Thanks ahead of time!
  • Whiteline bushings all around
  • Perrin Solid A arm bushings
  • Anti-roll kit - not sure which route I want to go with this yet.

What rates are you planning to run on the FA500s? I would tell you to avoid the sway bars for the time being. Bushings are nice, and I use the Energy Suspension kit as it has a lot of necessary bushings and are cheap. Consider the Whiteline RCK kit if you plan on lowering the car more than 1 inch from stock. If you plan to track, consider putting the money from the sway bars toward enhancing the brakes...don't know what you have.

For track use, consider getting some additional camber. THe Evo really likes front camber. I run -3 in front and -1.8 in rear. My car is also a dd.

I honestly have no clue what rates I will be running, getting into the track scene is all new to me and I have a lot to learn. My car is already dropped on Swift Spec R's and the stock Bilsteins so with the coils I will certainly be lower than 1 inch from stock.

I have the capital to do the full suspension and brakes which is something next I was thinking about, I have stock Brembo's currently with slotted drilled rotors and Hawk pads.

I plan to DD my car as well

Stock calipers are fine. The biggest thing you need for brakes is good track pads.

if you are new to the track, I suggest you stay on the bilstein/swift combo. it's a nice set up and it should be more than enough for your driving level

I'm not an amateur driver by any means, just getting into a different aspect of the sport. I already ordered and paid for the FA's so I'm just going to run them and if I need to or want to upgrade I will.

Perrin PRS for the rear of front control arms
Whiteline RCK
in lieu of Whiteline RCK get custom tophat spacers to move the strut down 1" which will fix the RC
R/T Ernie rear trailing arms to give more room for 10" wide rims and 285 + tires
Ohlins for sure sell the FA's ( sorry but there is no comparison ) and custom spring setup to balance the car
Nagisa adj rear toe links and rear control arms to help dial out bumpsteer and lift/throttle steer
18x10 Nto3M Enkeis
your choice of Goodyear rival or Star spec V2 since it is a dual duty car
front adjustable sway bar with adj links
Rear adj sway with adj links
Custom Acd tune from Matt @ acdtuning
either shep or Jon@ TRE rear lsd
driveline bushings ( also rear diff etc )
1 pc driveshaft
Full set of engine mounts to isolate movement
firewall stiffner with M/c stopper
fully triangulated rear trunk brace, one piece not hinged towers to floor
Alumilite front splitter fully braced to frame
Center brace for Evo 8 rear wing
Spacer for rear wing to change the angle of attack
real Gurney flap for rear wing 1" high not that tiny little bump thing
Beatrush front undertray modified to flow air to tranny
Full rear undertray with diffuser tunnel
Full 3 " brake ducting to rotors
PF01 front and pf97 rear pads
ssLines for Brakes
600 type fluid SRF or something similar
Proper rake setup to balance the car

Lots of driver training ( not knock but often the best mod possible )
personal coach familiar with EVo and the type of racing being done
robert fuller @ Robi-spec comes to mind

Sorry got bored and just started typing :-) but i hope i pointed out something you may have missed..some items like the gurney flap can be made for less than $10 worth of aluminum angle

Best of luck

Great info, I do actually have some of the things you have mentioned, others right now I think is a little overkill for me at the moment, but thank you very much again for this.
