I think the general rule of thumb is you will need to spend about $2500 to get a decent set.

That's a little harsh. Just curious as to why you think Megan, BC, and Stance are trash?

I tend to agree with him, it really depends on your expectations. If you want something that will get you by or you want to slam your car you will get by with the above mentioned brands. I have a set of well taken care of Megan coilovers, and the collar is seized on one, the body is on the other. They are pretty much stuck to the point where no pneumatic tool will loosen them without destroying them.

But honestly the Mr bilsteins are a more reliable equally or better performing set of struts. If you want to put a set of aftermarket coilovers on your car, you will be doing yourself a favor by saving up for a nicer system. This is just my opinion, hope it helps!

Of all the cheap coilovers it seems Fortune Auto actually tries to put some real engineering in their setup.

Sad day if anyone suggests anything other than Ohlins in this thread.

I came really close to spending almost 1k more for the JRZ's. In the end especially for a car not driven on the track all that much I figured the Ohlin's were more then overkill.

I hear good things about KW. I personally wasn't looking to spend a ton so I went with Fortune Auto and thought they rode really nice, I have since gotten rid of the car and am selling them, but i think for bang for the buck it's hard to beat them.

I have no problem with anyone who owns these brands. The problem is when people claim that these brands are high quality.

Will this suffice? It took me literally a few seconds to find these threads. I could find more but you get the point.

People who think these brands are the best of anything (except being terrible) are either

A) People with the least amount of knowledge about suspension components and factors.

B) Bought them and say they are high quality to make themselves feel better.

C) Both

There's a reason why these brands are cheap.

Another vote for KW, I've had V3's and currently own club sports with custom valving and rates, and they do really well in autocross and track settings, although I am not a pro driver, these let me concentrate on the next corner instead of constantly thinking why I am all over the place Either way you go Ohlins, AST, or KW you wont be disappointed.

Ohlins or KW for the quality if nothing else. Regarding whether a difference would be noticeable on the track between these and a cheaper brand would come down to tires, and ability to get the best out of the car.

KW's have done me great thus far. I picked up a used set.
Had Bilsteins before. KW or Ohlins if you would like to track one day.
Everything else if you just want to slam

Whats wrong with Stance?

One of Colorado's fastest track Evo's. Running Stance Pro Comp 2's and custom springs (14k F/17k R). I am considering Stance as well. Its not an Ohlins. Nor is it as weak sauce as Megans/BC.
