285/30 or 265/35 18 federal rs-r?

Is there anyone who runs these tires? I'm wondering if one size vs the other has a benefit on a 10" rim. I would prefer the shorter tire personally but I have an ix/rs and I don't want to work against myself gearing wise for ax.

Opinions?

265/35/18 would be perfect on a 10" rim.. Definitely won't stretch

I'm just worried about the extra height . Think that will hurt me?

285 lands square in the 10" rim while 265 10 is the upper range.

Good info though

In term of rolling diameter,265/35/18=235/45/17
How about 275/35/18??Those should seat nicely on 10" wheel and you get a tad taller tyre than stock

My advice is to go with the 265's. The Federal RS-R is a pretty wide tire and I firmly believe the size ratio on the sidewall isn't accurate. I currently have a set of 235/45/17's on my stock BBS Evo IX SE rims and they are a lot wider than the OEM Advan's. They're just as wide as my buddies 255/40/17 NT05's. Here is a thread I found a while back comparing 255/40/17 NT05's to 255/40/17 RS-R's. You'll notice how much wider the Federals are over the Nitto's even though they're both rated 255mm wide. It almost seems like 255mm wide Federals could really be 265-275mm wide. So I would assume that the 265 wide RS-R you're looking at is more like a 275mm tire while the 285 could be upwards of 295 or 300ish.

Tire diameter was spot on, just the width was wider than stated. And the AIT body kit?!

Well in that case you should run the 285's I thought you were trying to fit these under the stock fenders. Those AIT fenders are really wide. Remember my buddies Evo that I showed you, he's on 18x11 rims with 305's and he still has room to spare. Go bigger if you can. I just thought you were trying to squeeze them under the stock fenders.
