RPF1 powder coating info needed

RPF1 powder coating info needed

Anyone got their wheels done and had balancing issues? I know that the coating process is basicly bacing the powder til it melts, will this affect the wheel strength/shape because theyre magnesium?

RPF1's are magnesium? I thought they were the regular aluminum/cast. The powdercoating proess should mess with the integrity of the wheel.

I've never powder coated RPF1's but I have powder coated numerous wheels. Typically stock wheels because I like to change the look but keep the stock theme.

Personally I've never had an issue with wheel integrity after I've powder coated them, nor have I ever had a balancing issue.

I've read numerous threads in regards to powder coating weakening the metal structure, I just don't be believe that's the case with the cooking process (it's not that hot). Ultimately this is where the metallurgists chime in and tell me I'm wrong..whatever.

Find a reputable powder coater that has worked with wheels before, then post up the pics.

Power coating require a bit of heat for things to stick. Make sure the wheel does not get too hot or you may have issues with it. Find someone that knows what they are doing and not a "professional" with a craigslist oven in his garage.

This. A company this is accustomed to powder-coating wheels won't heat them to the point that they do damage them.

Powder coating heats to approx 400f--no need for more and shouldn't vary by much from shop to shop.
