Question Kumho Victoracers

Hi,

Well the season is almost upon us here in the north east and I need autocross tires for my EVO. I am going to run the stock rims and need to know what is the best size tire? This is recreational so I am not limited by rules. Also, who has the best price these days? I know Tire Rack carries them but do they have the best price?

Thanks for your input!
Mike

The Kumho Ecsta V700's suck, but the Victoracer V700 are great. The Ecsta's get slimey quick.

Thats usually because the Ecsta shouldn't be run at full tread depth in the dry. Even Kumho strongly recommends shaving the Ecsta for dry track conditions. Heat builds up in the tread blocks and can cause blistering at higher temps. If shaved, there is less material to hold heat and the tire doesn't blister.

I had an awful time with the V700s last year autocrossing and I did get them shaved beforehand. I kept chewing up the outer shoulder, cording two tires after only 5 events. I then manged to cord two more before season's end. Granted, one of our sites (Rosecroft) is especially abrasive, but this was rather disappointing. I'm giving the new Hoosiers a shot this year and I am keeping them away from Rosecroft...

What is the story on the new V710? There was a guy who had them at the local autocross this past weekend who said they are the latest and greastest. He compared them to the Hoosiers and said they were cheaper.

He had them on a Miata though. Do they offer them in our application size?

Not yet. They are similar to the Hoosiers.
