Strut question

Hey Guys,

Looking to replace my struts and I'm looking for some more information on what options i have available. I've read a few of them on here already but non answered my question.

I attached a picture, of the part of the strut (picture is of a new one) that rusted out on me. I would like replace everything but the spring, if I can.

My question is, can I replace just the part with this and use the same stock spring?

Called Bilstein, they said it would be no issue to reuse the same spring, providing its the OEM spring and there isn't any damage to it. However these will be a little firmer then stock.
