Hoosier R7 18"

Anyone running Hoosier R7 on 18"
Feel free to leave advice, I had them hook me up with these newer tires for show, but I'm concerned about running them down the track. I haven't installed yet due to having my Evo in she shop, didn't want to strip the thread on the dyno haha

R7 for a show car? Not the best investment since they need to be stored in their own environment (tire bags ideally) or will crack in a couple years.

Whats the concern with running a track tire on the track? Or do you mean drag strip? They'll likely suck on the drag strip cause they really need some heat.

Yes for show car, you can't beat free tires by the way.
Actually mean track an drag, as far as supposed being a good tire, if they are any good or what? An yeah I'll like to try them down the 1/4mile sometime

Hoosiers are a battle of heat cycles, so anytime you get it hot and cool it down you've aged it. Its only good for so many cycles before they fall off a cliff. They are really a purpose tire, not so much good for other things.

Hard to argue with free but my hoosiers live in a bag unless Im prepping to head to the track.

Not only do they wear super fast nor have any wet traction ability, they are quite fragile as a dd tire. Being a track tire punctures from road debris which normally doesn't hurt a street tire can be lethal for these. Also, with such a soft compound you'll toss lots of road goobers all over the car more so than with a street tire.

Drag tires deflect under/at acceleration to create a wider footprint for best launch #'s. These tire are designed for cornering more than straight line and do not deflect under load like a drag tire. So, not the best use there either (assuming you're intending use as a drag tire).
