Wheel hubs help please
Wheel hubs help please
Hi I have a 2003 evo8 and I bought all 4 new wheel hubs and I heard u have to buy new sensors cause they won't come off the old wheel hubs or somethen like that is this true before I go buy all new wheel sensors
Are you replacing the hubs or the knuckles? Its the knuckles that house the ABS sensor which will be seized on there but as for the hubs you wont have to worry about any of that jazz
I can't help you with the back but I have an '03 and I just did a front hub.
With the car on stands, remove wheel, axle nut, caliper and rotor. Hang the caliper on the spring. Unbolt the strut from the knuckle. Pull the axle out of the hub. Pop the tie rod out of the knuckle. The trick of hammering on the side doesn't seem to work on this car, at least not for me, I had to use a gear puller. Press against a nut mounted on the threads or buy a new tie rod end. Unbolt the sway bar from the lower arm. Remove the fender liner plastic and unplug the abs sensor. The sensor plug mounts to a plate that is part of the fender and the connector is very strong. I just cut it free with a dremmel cutoff disc. Remove the ball joint pinch bolt and take the knuckle to a shop that has a press. I took it to Bear Frame and Axle and the charge was $15. Do this or hammer for a long time.
At Advance Auto I found a replacement for the part of the abs plug I cut off.
Anyway, that is how you get around having to mess with the abs sensor.
