tire size help?

I recently stumbled across a deal on a set of wheels and tires that I couldn't pass up. The tires are close to the wear bars so they will need replaced. My question is what size tires do I need to get that will have no stretch? I know next to nothing about wheel and tire fitment but I hate the look of stretched tires. The wheels are Rota Torque 18X9.5 et20 and the tires that are on them are 235/40/18, they are stretched and it looks like crap. I want a tire that will have no stretch. As of now my car is stock height but I plan on getting coilovers after I get the car running. I already have a set of 245/40/18 Nitto NT555 but I'm afraid they will have stretch on these wheels too.

The likely reason the previous owner had the 235's on that wheel was for fitment in the rear. The 235 is not recommended & it out of range for the 9.5" wheel

A 245 is Ok to use on the 9.5" wheel. The issue is going to be rear fitment using a +20 wheel. The 245 is doable if you roll, pull & bumper bolt the rear but if you go any wider, i.e. 255 or 265, I see major fitment problems

Stockish rear camber figured into this opinion

thank you for the info. I don't mind having to roll the fenders or any other modifications to make them fit correctly. I just want tires that are not stretched and that fit the wheels and don't want my wheels cambered and "crooked" looking like most of these Hondas in my area. I want it to look decent and be functional. I live in the country and travel a lot of back roads. I like to have fun on these twisty roads. I also plan on occasionally Running it on the track at Mid Ohio with my buddy who has an S2k who has been talking a lot of crap that he will out do my evo any day. By no means will my car be a dedicated track car. more of a 400-500 whp daily driver and have some fun on the track occasionally.

Certainly sounds like you are function > form

If thats the case, I recommend selling those +20's & getting a wheel that fits the rear wheel wheel (i.e +28 to +38)

I picked these up because I wanted a set of aftermarket wheels that looked decent and they were only $200. I really cant stand the look of the stock evo 8 wheels and they have snow tires on them so I'm just going to use them as my winter wheels. came across a nice deal on a set of evo 9 bbs but I hate how they look too. I just like to drive the hell out of my car and have fun in it but want it to look decent also. It's not a show car and not a track car just a fun dd. I am function over form, in the future when funds allow it I will get a different size wheel but for $200 these will work for now. the car will be payed off may next year so I'll have more cash to play with then and do more with the car. as for now my main focus is to get it running again but I'm still waiting on a buyer for my work car so I can have the cash to get the evo running.

the +20 is no going to fit well. And 245/40's will still look stretched on the 9.5's. You should be able to sell those wheels for a profit as long as they're not blasted. Get into the +30 to +35 offset range with a 265/35r18 and it will fit beautifully with rolled rear fenders and a slight pull.

I put them on my car and they just barely hit the front calipers. They just barely hit enough to just scrape the clear coat off my calipers. I bought the wheels from my buddy and he said he forgot to give me the 5mm spacers for the front. I'll use the spacers and run the wheels for a little while just because about any wheel is better than the stock 8 wheels. Especially since my stock wheels have snow tires on them. Ill get a cheap set of tires for these ones and sell them for a little profit and get something that fits better.

I hate to say I agree with the other guys on here, a +20 is going to struggle, especially if you have to add a spacer. The perfect offset for a 9.5 wheel is about +28 as was mentioned. I have 265 35 18 ZIIs on an 18x9.5 +28 wheel and they sit perfectly square, and only had to do some minor rolling in the rear.

And they function. Like really function.

I can upload a few pics if you want later.

yes please I would love to see some pictures please. These wheels are just temporary because I got them so cheap. I have a set of 245/40/18 Nitto NT555 to put on them for now and then ill sell them in the spring and make a little bit of money off them and buy a set of wheels in the correct size. I had to get 5mm spacers for the front to clear my calipers. I just couldn't pass up the deal I got them for because I know in my area I can make money on them by no means are these going to be a permanent wheel/tire set up for my car. Just couldn't pass up the deal especially when I already have tires for them and literally anything is better than the hideous stock evo 8 wheels I had on the car.

See attached. These are 265 35 18 ZIIs on an 18x9.5 +29 wheel.

There are also a ton of pictures on my website. Most of those have effectively a 245 tire on an 18x8.5 +25 wheel.

Those 5mm spacers effectively turn those wheels into 18x9.5 +15. Good luck getting those to fit stock front fenders.

You really should just sell them and buy wheels that fit. Something in the neighborhood of 18x9+35. Or just pick up a set of Evo 9 BBS on craigslist or ebay.
