Pls help/advice tire size

Dear all,

Going to buy a set of tires for my Evo5, Im running stock wheels 17x7.5 et38 currently have 225/45/17 fitted atm.

I wanted to see if I could fit 235/45/17? Tires would be Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2, I heard from someone that these specific tires aren't wide as some in same size are.

Just wanted to get your thoughts, would I be able to run 235's? Or should stay 225's?

Massive Thanks in advance

You will not notice a difference between 225/235, short of price and weight.

Main reason for wanting to go 235 is that the 225 that I currently have on are kinda skinny looking (I know thats due to the wheels) but I thought 235's would fill the arch a bit nicely.

So would you just stay 225?

The stock EVO wheel is 17x8 +38. Stock tire is the 235/45. Why not run the stock tire or go to a 245/45/17 or you can oversize & run the tried & true 255/40

I did, Sorry. A 7.5 wide wheel max tire size is 235. If your rear wheel well has the room you could run 1 size over, i.e. 245/40

No real difference except 10mm wider w/the 235 & bit more costly. A lot of us run & appreaciate the wide widths on the EVO (looks & performs better)

I run a 275/40/17 so you have an idea of what we like

I have run a 235/45/17 for the life of the car. My car makes in the range of 500+whp and 400+tq and does not need anything wider/taller. It does not slide around in turns, it does not spin tires, and is a tried and true size.

Also, based on the clutch you are installing (exedy stage 1 hd) I really think you are wasting money on going with a bigger tire that will serve no additional benefit.

Stay with 225/45/17
If you want to go 235/45/17, it's best to have 8 or 8.5" wheel width so you won't get a tyre with pinched sidewall

Thanks for all your input guys really appreciate it, this seems like a tough call....

My main reason for trying 235's would be to fill the arches a lil bit.

Plus the tires Im fitting ( goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2) Im also told these tires arent as wide as some others on the same size
