i wetsanded it with 500 and 1000...try to not apply too much pressure because these cars are old and its original paint...be very careful around the sticker...done some spirited driving and photo shoots and brakes still look fantastic...

I did exactly the same with 4 coats of VHT clear caliper, about 8 months ago, they are starting to darken now but the clear is still hanging in there. Tracking really heats them up too

It is a quick fix, but I tried reclearing and repainting my calipers on my old car and after about 6 months they start to stain badly.

If I did it again I would have them professionally painted or powdercoated. If it's your only vehicle, reclear/respray is not a bad solution. Do it twice a year to keep them looking minty

This isn't a permanent solution by any means.

I used VHT flameproof clear on my calipers. They turned a dark red almost burnt color after a few months of hard driving.... I'll be getting them powder coated now.

Original calipers. Pretty much anytime my wheel(s) come off I hit them with some brake parts cleaner, some elbow grease and a coat of wax.

Thanks.
I spray a little on a rag first and then wipe the caliper down. I never apply the cleaner directly to the paint.

Depending how often you clean them water or a little bit of spray polish would work just fine. Twice a year or less and I would advise using a little brake parts cleaner as long as it's non-clorinated and "safe on paint..."
