I'd run 245/40/17. 255 is pretty wide for an 8" wheel. It'll work fine and fit, it's just a big tire

Yep, the 255 is one size over most charts. Even Nittos web site does not recommend the NT05 under an 8.5" rim

You can get away with it for sure. Ive run the 275's NT05's on a 9" wheel & the shoulders were pretty square. The side wall stiffness on the NT05 is very stiff

I would go for it

It'll make the tire a bit more mushy feeling as far as response goes because it will bulge the sidewall. But it'll work fine. Many guys have run it long before you..

when I was running my stock 17s, I liked the 240 width myself. wide enough, but for me personally, I felt a SLIGHT better "bite" around sharp curves and corners and more responsive. that's just me tho.

I'm running 255/40's on my stock bbs wheels and I love how aggressive it looks. However, I am trying to part ways with these wheels as soon as I can post in the for sale section.
