after bleeding the brakes and still having a spongy feel and the pedal going straight to the floor, the mechanic said that the ABS system also needs to be bled..

how do you bleed the ABS system in a evo 8?

 

Hi, it can't be done manually. I'm not a specialist but I think I remember having read somewhere that you need to do it with a computer and software from Mitsubishi (although there might be other available software for this).

 

i read on this forum that it has auto-bleed, you turn the switch to ON position and press the break the ABS system bleeds, i can hear a solenoid going off when i do that, but it doesnt seem to work, the brakes are still soft and spongy.

i also read that their is two bleed nipples per brake caliper, is this true? i only did the ones you see from the outside.

i hope the auto bleeding with the switch works because if not then there isnt any mitsubishi dealer in my city,and im screwd.

This doesn't sound like an ABS problem, this sounds like a normal brake system bleeding problem. Do it all over again and make sure you actually get all the air out of the brake lines for each caliper. Yes, there are two bleed screws, an inside and an outside.

Don't worry about your ABS system right now

 

Pedal wont go to floor with a little air in the ABS system which should take care of itself, though would need to research that in mitsu mechanics manual.

Pedal going to floor is probably in the master cylinder. Try putting your foot on the brake pedal lightly, does it sink to the floor and then you can pump it back up? If thats the case, then one of the internal seals is leaking for whatever reason.
