You used the shims from the brembo pads, correct?

No, I did not. Hawk doesn't manufacture an application for the Evo, they do for the Brembo caliper, hence, the pads I received were too thick (I had the same problem with the AP Racing set-up on my Z--and I bought the pads directly from my AP supplier!); therefore, I had to sand them down to get them to fit. It would have taken even more time to sand off enough pad to get the shims to fit. Moreover, I figured (perhaps incorrectly) that if the Brembo pads squealed with shims so would the APs.

the squeal isnt too bad, but moderate, enough to be a bit annoying.....

i bed them, i did moderate stops...., with a cool down period, i did drag them a bit to warm them up....

If bedding in the brakes as per instructions does not help .. try some of the noise suppression tips in this how-to:

Shahul. I tried to tell ya that you needed to reuse both shims from the Brembo pads to keep the DS2500's squeal free!

If you can dig the old pads out of the trash, do it! You can't go out and buy those shims anywhere.

I use a paint scraper to seperate mine and then apply them to the new pad backings with silicone grease.

You have to peel them off. They are put on with a high temp glue. They have to be peeled off the pad with a tool. I used a sharp flat headed screw driver to seperate the shim bit by bit. But a paint scraper would work also. It took about 30 seconds to get the shim loose.

The only way to get another set of shims is to buy another set of Brembo pads. Since the shims are glued to the pad from the factory, they are not considered a seperate part.

Shahul,

If you need some shims for your Ferodos, go to a Checker/Schucks/Kragen. In the "HELP!" section they have a package of Brake Silencer Shims. You'll need 2 boxes and they're about $5 per box. You will need to trim them to fit the back of the pads, but they work perfectly. Here is a pic of them installed on my EBC pads:

If you can't find them and need the Part# and a pic of what the box looks like I can post it for ya (gotta d/l the pic off my digicam). Lemme know.

Peace,

Shahul,

I bet you that they ordered the floating metal shims and not the ones you need. AFAIK The shims that go on the back of the brake pads are not sold separately through the Mitsubishi dealer.

Did you pick them up already, or did they just order them? I am almost 100% sure that they are not the right ones.

(In this pic, laying on top of the brake pads are the shims that I bet they ordered.)

Checker/Schucks/Kragen is an autoparts store. Don't tell me u haven't heard of them. http://www.cskauto.com

Edit: I just noticed u live in MD, and there aren't any CSK stores there.

But YEAH! Advance will work.

If they sell the same stuff as CSK does out here, they should have what I'm talking about.

When you go in there, DO NOT tell them what kind of car you have, it doesn't matter (Even if they persist, don't tell them). As soon as they find out what kind of car you have they will probably do what they did with me and look up "brake shims" in the computer and come up with nothing, and then tell you they dont have what you need. Tell them you are looking for "Brake Silencer Shims" and that they come in a package where you can cut your own. They are found in the "Help!" section, so maybe mentioning that will help them find them for you. They sell for about $5 per box, and you need 2 boxes.

I'll post a picture of what I am talking about so you can see what they look like.

If you can't find them, you can paypal me $15 and I'll get some for you. lol

As promised... Here's a pic of those shims I picked up at CSK. I'm sure Advance will have them too.
