cant decide what tire to buy :/

just finished my build and have a new set of wheels, car is making 850/610 to the wheels
im looking for something that can hook nice from 40+rolls, right now im on some cheap sumitomo and its like going ice skating
the wheels are 17x9.5 so im looking for something that fits square ideally 255/40/17
what i have in mind are the r888r any ideas/advice?

Bridgestone RE71r will provide more grip than the R888r or NT01 for how you're using the car.

I have to disagree on the RE71R holding more power than the R888R's.

I have a Supercharged Z06 that makes over 700 on pump and damn near 800 on race gas. The R888R's hook better than the RE71's but... Nitto NT05R's or MT ET Street's are best for straight line drag or roll racing unless you want to go to a full slick.

275/35/17's will work with your 17x9.5's:

275/40/17's will also work with you wheel setup:

Your corvette isn't an Evo. The RE71 has about equal grip to an NT01 or R888(r) until you over heat it on a road course. They do the same lap times until the RE71 gets greasy. I have an Evo in the shop right now, 830whp/670wtq. It hooks 3rd very well with 255/40r17 RE71's. I've put my NT01's on it and the grip isn't better.

I said NT05R's not NT01's.

I made my recommendations based on him mentioning he wants to roll race. While I agree with what your saying about the track tire options none of the track tires you have mentioned will hook as good on the street in a drag or roll race as the NT05R's or the MT ET's which are drag radials.

On another note I have RE71's on my track dedicated evo and on my miata currently and have had them on every one of my previous cars that I've owned over the last few years. The RE71's are my all around favorite tire. I was very fortunate to catch the fastest guy in my run group over 2 days at Somona Raceway 1 lap before they got too greasy :P

Your post said R888r's hook better than RE71's. That's what I was disagreeing with.

I don't like putting drag radials on street cars. They handle/drive weird. Especially on an AWD that's going to have them on all 4 corners.

Have you tried the MT ET Street's or NT05R's? Although not on the level of cornering grip or feel of any of the previously mentioned road course competition tires they are not nearly as bad as drag radial options from a generation ago.
