But, again, I've been wanting to tube the front of my car. I know it will be big $$$... but I really want to do it while retaining mounting points for all lights/FMIC/etc. Our cars really need to shed weight up there. It would be awesome.

Hochman Fabrication in IL is releasing tubular front end kits for EVO 8/9's that retain mounting points for the cross member, FMIC, headlights, ETC. Some decent weight saved there.

Just looked them up. Looks like a nice piece. They're local to me so might hit them up about seeing if they want to make a full removable front end. That piece would be 36 times more appealing if the top part of the core support came out too since that would allow engine removal/install through the front of the car.

That's how i'm building mine. The lower is permanent however the upper will be removable with Moroso quick release pins. It's nice pulling the motor out the front for sure.

I'd be tempted to sell my house for one of those. That's probably about what it costs.

I emailed them. They say the upper wouldn't save much weight, if any, and there a lot of Mount points they would have to get right. So, they aren't looking to do so.
I don't even care about weight. I just want accessibility.

I messaged them on FB about the same thing and got the same response. If I get their lower piece I'll design my own system to make the upper detachable.

That's a nice car, but not a tube chassis. It's front and rear subframes and a race spec roll cage integrated upper shock mounts, all designed to go into a modified OEM unibody.

Get in contact with DRC http://dracecars.homestead.com/ , Dan is in process of making a tubular removable front.
