Evo 8 loose steering and noise
Hi everyone! Newbie here! I've had my evo for 2 years now and recently I have been noticing my steering wheel is giving me a loose feeling. It's the feeling where you think the car is lighter than it should be but actually isn't (if that makes sense). Also, everytime I turn the steering wheel I hear a sound up front that sounds like a metal thing spinning. Do you guys think it's my steering rack? Maybe my tie rods? Or something else? Thanks!
Hey LifeLight,
When you say it is loose, do you mean that less effort is required to steer than normal? Or do you mean that you can turn the steering wheel and the front wheels don't respond?
When you say that you hear a "metal thing spinning" what do you mean? Do you hear grinding? Squealing? Brushing sound? Can you be more specific? Does it happen only when the rack is in motion, or you put pressure on the steering wheel and it is a constant whirring? Please elaborate.
Thank you,
