Sqeaking/Rubbing sound when I turn the steering wheel

So, out of nowhere today my steering wheel started making this loud rubbing/squeaking noise whenever I start turning. I happens when the wheel is turned left or right. It doesn't do it straight through the whole turn but it does it most of the revolution. I thought it might be the steering wheel rubbing against the big plastic part behind it, but it sounded a little further down.

I don't like the sounds of it at all . It just happened this afternoon and will see if it does it tomorrow. Has anyone else run into this one?

so as of this morning it stopped doing it. But, to make sure my bases were covered...I checked the power steering fluid, all the lines I could see and under the car for possible leaks.

Everything looked 100% so maybe it was just some stupid, new car squeak/rattle that went away.

stupid noise started up again yesterday. It's been raining a lot the past couple of days. I sounds like it could be a wet, rubber boot/or piece some where in the steering column or something.

Does this seem possible?...since I think it dried out today and stopped doing it again lol. If not, gonna call the dealer.

Is it also very humid out there, and possibly the interior is is also taking in some moisture causing it to happen?

no i know exactly what your talking about man and it has happened to me more then once on rainy days. also i will sometimes get the smell of burning rubber also. i think rain water is getting up in the engine bay and soaking the belt causing it to squeek and loose grip also causing it to burn rubber. it is very annoying and a new car should do neither of these things. i wish they made a recall or something for it. like new underbody panels that keep things dryer down there.

the pulley could be it... try the stock one and see if it goes away... easy to do, just take ur hose and spray the belt., careful not to douse the Alt.
