Brembo pads

The "how-to" article here says to install:

front pads with ARROW POINTING DOWN

and

rear pads with ARROW POINTING UP

I just came from the dealer and they insisted that ALL arrows should be POINTING DOWN and that's how they installed them.

Can anyone confirm if the how-to article is right or wrong or should I just re-install the front with the arrows pointing down?

What kind of damage can wrong oreintation cause?

Thanks for any input you can provide

The how-to article I wrote takes that info from the usdm and jdm service manuals. If you look at a box of new brembo oem pads, you will see that if you install them with the metallic wear indicator on the outside (as directed), then the arrows on the shims are pointing in opposite directions with respect to front and rear pads.

Your dealer is high.

see the follow up thread for the diagrams.

No damage would result, but you would get more squealing.

the arrow indicates rotation direction...The front caliper is in front of the axle hence the arrow down orientation.. the rear behind the axle and viola the arrow up direction!
