AutoX wheel combo... Neal help..

Neal,

I am looking for info on your lightest 17x8.5 inch rims with 255 r compound tires. I am looking for the lightest combo I can go with, and I am not sure if that is kosei TS, or something else I have not though of. Looks are irrelevant for this, but price is a consideration. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The lightest wheels I carry in 17X8.5 are the SSR Comps, which weigh in at 15.5 lbs. The Kosei wheels only come in 17x8 which wont work with a 255 width tire.

I currenlty have them in stock, but there not the lesser priced of the bunch... It might be best to run a 17x8 and a 245 to save a bit of $.. not a really big difference between 255's and 245's. More people have had better luck (especially with fitment) using a 245.

you would need a 9 or 9.5" wheel to accomidate a 275, and I dont have anything that wide in 17" for the EVO

I remember a post about SVT Cobra rims that were 17x9 and fit the Evo. I think they were cheap too ($150 per wheel IIRC). That should fit the bigger tires you want to run.

Here is the link:

The Cobra wheel is 8mm differ in offset and 3.5mm differ in center bore. Might bolt up, but theres a good chance its going to vibrate.

I believe that Trbo Dad is running 275 Kumho Victoracers on 17x9 rims. IIRC, his wheels are 5Zigen FN01R-C. I can say that I am running the 17x9 FN01R-C (35mm offset) with 245 Hoosiers and there is no problem -- I don't think I'm rubbing anywhere even under hard cornering. At least the tires don't show any signs of rubbing.

It's a good bet that the 275 Hoosier is a wider tire than the 275 Victoracer. If you put 275 Hoosiers on the Evo, you can expect that you will have some "issues" to solve.
