RS Trunk Bar?

Anyone know where I can get one? Fireball was supposedly trying to get some but it seems like he is having a difficult time aquiring any. Are any vendors carrying them or can I go to Mitsu and get it? Any ideas?

My local Mitsubishi dealer did some checking for me and found that they are on a national backorder with none in stock.

It's the same as the Cusco trunk bar and they can be had for only about $80.00 but you will have to modify your interior trim in your trunk to make it fit. Remeber the RS has nothing in the trunk as far as trim.

Just remember that the Mitsubishi bar is legal for SCCA Solo2 ESP and SM classes because it was used on the RS and can be legally added to the EVO 8. The Cusco, or any other aftermarket trunk bar, is not legal even if it uses the factory mounting points.

The reason i want the rs and not the cusco is because the rs bar is flat (or seems to be in the pics) on the ends and it will be less cutting of my trunk liner.

You might wanna check your Scca rule book again I dont think it would be legal unless it came with the car. Basically if you have an RS it would be allowed but not an Evo with RS parts. I would ask someone before you buy then get dissapointed when you get to the track. I have a feeling if they see it and you tell them it is a stock piece from an RS he will say well this is not an RS. Bottom line if it did not come from the factory that way the will most likely not consider it as ok for running in stock class.

You are allowed to update/backdate parts from other year models as long as they come stock on the same car at some point (any trim level). This would specifically allow removal of all trunk trim, adding the trunk bar, removing the wing, removing the AC, removing the radio, etc.
Although I have to check the rulebook, this may only apply to street prepared and SM. I am not sure if stock still allows update/backdate or not.

Only if the cars are on the same line.

If the EVO is classed like

Mistubishi Lancer EVO (all) <- we are good to go

but if we get something like this

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO (03, 04)
EVO RS, MR, 05+
<- now we are screwed...

In the second sample, we would be screwed out of the upgraded turbo's, cams, and other suspension and chassi stiffening stuff...
