Post Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 - Initial Impressions

Just got these about 4 days ago. It has been raining non stop over here, but these tires are fantastic in the rain. They feel much more confident than the stock Advan's in the wet, including puddles where the Advan's would normally begin to hydroplane. In the dry is where I have some gripes. The tires will begin to squeal much earlier on than the Advan's, but this squealing does not indicate that you are at the limit, there is a fair bit more to go, I've yet to find out and hopefully when I do it won't be anywhere dangerous. Additionally, the Evo has lost that razor-sharp feeling. It feels as if the car is floating at times, to remedy this I think some more tire pressure should do the trick. Any suggestions as to how many psi? At this point I have only placed 100 miles on the tires and they did not have adequate time to heatup as it is dry for a brief time and then begins to rain. Hopefully as the weather gets better and the tire begins to wear in they feel more confident. Only time will tell.

It's interesting that you mention that your Evo has "lost that razor-sharp feeling". I just swapped my Advans back on my Evo after running my Toyo RA-1s for the last month. While the Toyos had almost supernatural grip and totally kicked a$$ on the track, they lacked the precise razor sharp turn-in respose that the old Advans had even after 13,000 miles. I'm debating what my next set of street tires will be. I need something that is an all season tire but I fret about loosing the Advan grip and handling.

Get 500-1000 miles on the tires and report back. You're still riding on the oily surface of the tires.

True true. The tires are also at full tread depth compared to your worn, super responsive Advans. Ride it out for a few hundred and see how they feel. It should tighten up. Keep us posted
