I'm leaning towards the Kumho Ecsta MX as my next tire.
... 245/45/17 will rub... it's a TALL tire.

I'm using the ES100s right now. Great bang for your buck tire. It's a great tire for a daily driver and occasional weekend warrior like my EVO.

I have the Kumho's, and I'd have to say that in the dry, they're about 15-20% worse than the stock yoko's --more sidewall flex with slower turn in--(the yokohoma's rock). But treadwear seems to be better than on the yokohoma's by about the same margin if I had to guess.

Ultra High Performance Summer

Yokohama AVS ES100- Prob the best bang for the buck in its class. Good wet and dry handling with acceptable wear.

Bridgestone Potenza RE750- The best performer in its class. Great dry traction and steering response. Good wear and rides good.

Dunlop FM 901 - not that great. I wouldn't recommend it.

Max Performance Summer

Kumho Ecsta MX - best bang for the buck in its class. Great tire to push and burn thru without burning your wallet.

Dunlop SP 9090 - Audi A4 original equip. tire. Not bad but sort of lacks in the dry and wear. Strong point is its wet traction.

Falken Azenis Sport (245/45/17) - don't carry them.

I have avs es100. Good tires, wears good, grabs good, good on rain (no hydroplane on inch of rain +)

However, they don't grab like the stock tires. But ES100 are half the price of the stock tires.

Azenis sport 512 is also good tires. Sucks on rain tho... they hydroplane too easy.
