Tomei Camshaft Group Buy
By popular demand, we are ready to offer the group buy for the Tomei camshafts for the Lancer Evolution. This GB will be open to ALL the grinds offered by Tomei, as well as their spring sets and cam gears.
As some of you may know, Tomei offers 2 basic types of cams for these cars - the Poncam, and the Procam. Poncams are along the lines of the HKS cams, as they have a mild enough lift that they do not require the installation of upgraded springs. The Poncam setups require valvesprings - while Tomei recommends using their springs (of course), you do not have to. We have had many customers run Ferrea and Supertech spring sets with these cams with fantastic results. We can offer the Supertech springs and/or valves as to any GB participants upon request.
CAMSHAFT SPECS
Poncam (can use stock valvesprings): 260 degrees duration and 10.7mm lift on the intake side, and 260 degrees duration and 10.2mm lift on the exhaust side. Great for a stock turbo car, and for those that want to drop the cams in, get reflashed with supporting mods and be done
Procam (requires the use of stiffer valvesprings):
Type 1: These cams feature 260 degrees of duration on the intake and exhaust cam, but steps you up to 11.50mm of lift on both the intake and exhaust cam. This is an awesome cam for a more extreme street setup - would be killer with the stock turbo and 10.5 hotside, TME turbo, or the new white rabbit.
Type 2: 270 degrees duration on both intake and exhaust cam with 11.50mm lift on both sides.
Type 3: 280 degrees duration on both intake and exhaust cam with 11.50mm lift on both sides.
The Type 2 and Type 3 are great for the guys going for big power, such as those using the T67, and GT35 turbos.
CAMSHAFT PRICES
This group buy will require a minimum of 5 buyers.
Poncams - our regular price for these is $725 per set + shipping. For the group buy, price will be $649 shipped
Poncams + camgears - our regular price is $1035.00. For the group buy, price will be $899.00 shipped
Procam Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 - regular price is $875 + shipping. For the group buy, price will be $725 per set shipped. This includes any of the Procams - you can also order staggered cams if you like (260 intake, 270 exhaust, etc.) for the same price.
Procam Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3 + camgears - regular price is $1175 + shipping. For the group buy, price will be $949 shipped
Valvesprings- our regular price is $399 + shipping. With the purchase of any of the camshaft sets will be $349.00 - there won't be any additional shipping charges since we can include them with the cams. Please note this is just for springs...no retainers are included, as Tomei does not specifically recommend aftermarket retainers.
Tomei also offers a kevlar reinforced timing belt...if there is enough interest we can include this as well.
Timetable: If you are interested in either of the above setups, please post your name on the list below along with the setup you are interested in. Once we have 5 people, we can begin taking formal orders and begin placing the orders with Japan. This GB will remain open for 2 weeks beginning the day we have 5 confirmed participants. From there, we have a couple shipping options. If we arrange these via boat, please allow approx 8 weeks for delivery (this includes the time required for Tomei to manufacture the cams + shippng to the US and shipping to the buyers. We can also arrange for air shipping of the cams from Tomei to us. This would cost an additional $50.00 per pair of cams (if you order springs and/or gears, the airfrieght price would be the same). In order to arrange the airfreight in the most expeditious manner possible, we would ask there be concensus among the group buy participants that this is the route they want to go. To avoid any complications, we would have Tomei ship the cams via air to us, and we would then send them to the participants. This will ensure as prompt of a delivery as possible.
We look forward to getting this going, as we believe these are some of the finest cams available for the Evo
Any questions, let us know!

jj008 - I am waiting for Tomei to answer this for me..will post as soon as I know
jmartinez - yes you could easily run these cams on a stock turbo with pump gas, provided the car is tuned for them. The bigger lift cams will obviously shine more with a larger turbo
