Got tuned at DG Motors today

Mod list:
HKS Premium Intake
HKS Legalmax exhaust with midpipe
HKS Blow off Valve
HKS I/Pipes

To say that the car preformed well before the tune is an understatement. I really love the car, but it came time as we all know to get it tuned and poke and prod the damn thing for more power. So I gave DG Motors to get a tune. I was beyond impressed with there service and how patient they were. Pete was very knowledgeable in the process as was the rest of the crew who was there. To them it was more important to get the car tuned right then just getting me out of as quick as possible. To say the least I am so impressed, I will definitely be going there again to have work done to my car and will definitely use them as my tuner. Anyway enough of my banter, here's the results.

Glad you are satisfied with our tuning services and customer service Joe! Enjoy the car and we can't wait to break the 300whp barrier with the next set of mods!

FYI here are the gains compared to your un-tuned lousy baseline:

+35whp/50wtq @ 3,800rpm

+70whp/70wtq @ 4,800rpm

+50whp/50wtq @ 5,252rpm

+70whp/70wtq @ 6,800rpm

+75whp/50wtq @ 7,000rpm

Your numbers are a kinda low. You might want to check for boost leak. From what I've read in SoCal forum, tuners have had issues w/ HKS bov. Is this on 91 oct?

Read up on Socal Evo forum in regards to Loneytuning thread about the HKS intake as well. He stated that the HKS intake draws a lot of hot air due to it length.

Because you are now cramming more air through your car. It will make you boost slightly more but will also cause your car's ecu to hit different load cells which most likely makes you loose power.

To be honest this is the first evo x gsr we have tuned with an hks bov recirc. on the stock turbo. The only other evo x gsr we have tuned with an hks bov was with an FP Red/cams etc. The FP Red turbos love to hold boost.

Joe will be back in a few weeks for some more upgrades, we will def. be looking at the bov though, thanks!

The HKS BOV that you mention was VTA. This one is re-circulating. The HKS intake draws hot air due to its placement right behind the radiator fan w/o a heat shield. HKS intakes for both the EVO 8/9 and the EVO X have a bad design. I have tested the IATs on both and they suck.

The HKS Premium Intake is not a mushroom head it's a drop in filter with a hard pipe.

Interesting...The car that I tuned in SoCal on 91 octane with the same HKS parts made a max gain of 60 hp and 51 ft-lb gain. The AFR was in the 11:1 range and the boost was set at 24-25 psi tapering to 18.8 by redline.

It is amazing the gains that you get on 93 octane gas when you do not have to retard timing too much to prevent knock. I wish we had 93 octane in CA.

93octane is decent. Gas stations here on Long Island are hit or miss though. Some cars really need some tuning work other cars take anything you give them. I tell everyone to use a reliable gas station and stick with it.
