Cobb MD dyno vs TTP MD dyno results

The purpose of the thread is to see how to different dynos in two different parts of the country compare. This test is not perfect, but you can see that how each reads.

I had an appointment to get my car tuned at Cobb in Plano, TX back in the Spring. They have a properly calibrated Mustang Dyno and outside temp was around 50 degrees during tuning and around 60 degrees (it may have been warmer in the shop) in the afternoon when the dyno pulls were completed. Humidity was low and Plano is 675 ft above sea level. I ended up with 330whp and 338wtq with boost spike around 26.5 psi.
Power Mods: Perrin turbo back exhaust, HKS Drop-in, T1R I/C pipes, ETS 3" FMIC, Cobb AP with boost hose modification
Stock boost control system with restrictor pill removed tuned at around 26psi.

Now, I have recently spent the money to do some pulls on TTP's dyno for comparison. The numbers are 337whp and 311wtq with boost spike at 24.9 psi. Weather data was around 103 degrees and 80% humidity in the shop. Orlando is 106 ft above sea level. No change in modifications, but another 7,000 miles on the car since the tune. It seems I've lost a bit of torque due to the heat/loss of boost, but my WHP is about the same.

Here are the images I promised

Updated with the dyno sheet from TTP. I don't have a scanner so I used my camera.

id say if the boost was equal, you're looking at almost exactly the same #'s, with cobb's being just slightly lower

Those are 2 pretty close Mustang Dynos. We have some here in town that are 100hp apart and they are 10 min from one another. The user can really alter the numbers on a MD.

Thanks for posting. Is that on the off the shelf Cobb Stage 2 map???

Actually Cobb is using a 77% smoothing factor, we use the factory 6% factor.

If we smoothed the dynosheet to the same 77%, it would look like this:

So our dyno is +1whp and -29wtq based on the heat and -1.5psi boost from humidity and heat.

are you using roller based rpm, or an inductive pickup scott?

cb
[edit] scott said they use roll speed.. same as we do... using inductive and such on the mustang can sometimes push the curve around, in my experience.[edit]

Sounds like you should have had Scott tune it too

No, not at all. The tune I do have is pretty good, but it appears TTP might just have had more experience with tuning X's. It's also possible everyone has gotten much better at tuning the X since February.
