MR bolt-on tuned by GST 291whp/294wtq --> 294/294 after 3 port boost solenoid

The car feels great, pulls hard all the way to redline now instead of falling on it's face after 5k rpms. The baseline run is a cobb stage 2 AEM intake with LWG duty cyle (the car was boost spiking)

The car:
California 91 Octane
2008 Evo X MR
T1R intercooler pipes
ETS 3.5" FMIC
Buschur Crossflow catback
Mil.Spec 100cell bolt-on HFC
Harman Motive intake
Cobb AP (the cobb wasn't agreeing with Bryan for some reason, so we weren't able to use the cobb today. Hopefully it will be worked out at a later date)

I was hoping to get over 300whp, but it looks like the SST wasn't going to give it to me. Looking at what Bryan has done on the MR with a dom 2.0, that may be my next step. Thanks for the great work Bryan!

Joe

Awesome Joe! Id recommend a Fuel Pump upgrade (Blaqops Kit) as well as some 1000cc injectors. Ditch the HFC and get a Resonated TP and you'll be at 300/300. May also want to look into getting a GM/GST 3port Boost Solenoid.

Congrats though on the new power. Feels good huh!

3port and test pipe would probably bring you to 300. If you are looking at upgrading your Turbo check out hr2l and my cars and their stories. That will give you a good idea of what to expect, and some good things to avoid that we had to learn the hard way. Good to see another sst here in Cali that wants to push the limit. Good luck!

Also see what power it makes with the aem intake. The lower intake temps could help you out.

Thanks for the advice guys! The car feels great. We'll see how long it takes before I feel the need to move to the next step

Looks good, although the power band on the evo X looks so funny. Like two mountains next to each other lol.

Great work as always from bryan.

Based upon GST's testing on the Evo 8 & 9 with our 100 cell cat, you'll only lose around 5whp and 13tq compared to a non-resonated test pipe. This is not just any old cat Joe has on there

Not true. I was running a 100cell HFC and when I went from it to a RRE Rally Cat TP I picked up 15whp peak and 10wtq (after being retuned). So I beg to differ. He ditches the HFC and goes 3 port Boost Solenoid he will make roughly 300+whp and 300+wtq on GST's dyno. Had the identical set up. I have been very happy to have ditched the HFC and went to the RRE Rally Cat TP, it is quiter below 3krpm's in 5th and 6th, as well as it has taken the bubbleiness out of the sound of my exhaust during idle as well as as on the down rev's. At the point hes at if your going to be illegal...might as well go all out with it (unless you cant stand the smell of exhaust )!

what's this 3 port boost solenoid business about? Sounds like I should have gotten one before the tune. Where did you guys purchase them from?

as far the the HFC goes, I know Bryan has said good things about mil.spec here on the forums in the past. Maybe not all 100cell cats are the same? My main reason was not having to deal with the smell and having a cop behind me smell it and give him a reason to pull me over. I'm new to Cali. I used to live in Michigan and ran with a test pipe all the time with my old STi because they don't care in Michigan. The tree huggers in Cali scare me.

You can get a 3-port boost solenoid from GST directly.

Congrats.

I'd sell the cobb, pick up a dom 2, go e85, and take it back to Bryan.

It is true. Why would I lie? Those were the results that Bryan at GST posted.

Your experiences may be different.

Which 100 cell cat were you using? One of ours?

Whats going on here? I made 287whp and 304 ft-lbs to the wheel with a tune and a custom single exit catback. On a mustang as well. I guess the SST whats holding it back.
