Thats a GREAT job aaron!

This owner should be more than happy!

One question, assuming you tuned a few Green's on Evo X's before, what type of transient boost response and 1-2nd gear spool difference are you seeing between the Red and Green. My understanding is that the Red will be noticably laggier in lesser loads than the Green.

The Greens were on MRs, so there is no spool loss on the 1-2. In the IXs for instance its only 1-200 rpm difference between the 3 at each step up. Pretty minimal actually considering what the turbos are capable of.

Its been decided this morning by the owner that we are now going to do the same ported head we have done in the past, https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ed-x-head.html , and the S2X/spring combo to see what damage we can really do

By S2X do you mean the GSC s2 cams I assume for the X?

Regardless I approve greatly of the GSC cams, thats what I am running and they work awesome!

Surprising the customer just doesn't build the whole motor...with the labor involved in taking the head of it just seems to make sense. Especially when you consider more power/torque on the stock motor than they have is getting risky and a new block isn't cheap.

Should be interesting to see! Keep us updated.

I'm more than happy with my Green....in fact I detuned it lately to keep it around 380wtq....I don't want to have your experience. Maybe in 2-3yrs I'll do the ERL kit and drop in a red....who knows. But for the next 2-3yrs I am MORE than happy with my green.

Sorry to go off topic.... Back to our regularly scheduled program.

I never said you shouldn't of got the red, I think you made the right choice. Just that the spool differences didn't vary with gear

Has anyone other than HollywoodX done an ERL motor? I know how his turned out, not why it did it but what happened. I can go to their site and see everything they do but it doesnt tell me if it works.

There are other builds in progress using the ERL kit, Hotdog on the other evox forums is doing their 2.5L kit.

Are you saying something happened to Hollywoods motor? I was under the impression he is just working in Alaska now, so he hasn't finished it up.

We had heard, though unconfirmed, that it ran into bearing problems.
