AMS E-Tune 08 GSR
AMS E-Tune 08 GSR
I just had Mitch at AMS tune my 08 gsr (mod list below). Being that there were no tuners local I got hooked up with Mitch and had him give me a tune via email. It was a very easy process and Mitch was great to work with. I would send him logs and he would work his magic, I would log the car again and he would tweak the tune where necessary. I would recommend this to anyone who doesnt have a tuner they trust close to them.
I am at 5000' on 91 oct.

Mod list:
FP Red
ETS intake,4" intercooler and IC pipes
ETS down pipe and test pipe
Custom cat back
Deatschwerks 1300cc injectors
Walboro 255
Three port boost solenoid
Kelford 214a cams

No problem thanks for the help. I may be in touch I have a buddy with a wrx that is considering getting a tune. (I assume your not opposed to working on those nasty things!)

I have recently finished with my etune from AMS. I first want to say that working with Mitch was awesome. I wanted to get in to the ecuflash tuning to better under understand my car. I previously ran the Cobb AP. My mods for this tune are: CPE HFC, CPE catback, AMS SRI, and GS 3 port. I will post the virtual dyno that Mitch sent to me when i get back to work and we got 322hp and 327tq on 93oct.
Just like any business, there are some things that set some in a whole nother world than most. The reason i say this is a few things. Prior to doing this i had zero knowledge about what i was doing. I got the guide by Merlin and it made alot of the information easier to understand. But i am the kind of guy that wants to know why changing certain aspects does what to others in terms of using ECUflash. I essentially got the etune so i could use it as a "hands on" learning tool. With this knowledge or lack of i had this process was awesome.
the type of customer care that AMS and Mitch specifically gave is second to none. Mitch was very patient with me and all my "why" questions. It was a slightly slow process but not because of anything Mitch had to do with. Since i work during the day, i could only maybe get a log a day to Mitch for map adjustments. And then this great weather has some issues to , so i couldnt do gear pulls in snow.
Dealing with Mitch and AMS, they are very patient, knowledgable people. They dont treat you like an order number or a dollar sign. If your on the fence about an etune and have an AP, sell the AP. Get yourself the stuff to use this service (tactrix cable, ecuflash, and evoscan). The power and everything about the car is so much more linear and smooth. YOU know that certain rev limit in first gear you have in the AP maps, 6500rpm in first gear is easy now.
I am currently in Dayton Ohio, and AMS really isnt that far from me. But when i do move and get stationed else where, i will drive cross country just to have Mitch and AMS work on my car. Thanks Mitch for the top notch service and the extreme patience. Since this car is my DD, there was never a time where my car was unusable during the process. I know there are other services out there, hell there is a tuner an hour away from me, but based on MY experience, i will Have AMS work on my car.
