Something's wrong...and no one has mentioned the most common thing...boost leak

Compare your torque spike to this guy's graph...also tuned at Ivey's https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...vey-tuned.html

You both have similar mods and your peak tq is at least 500rpm later, meaning ur peak boost is also later.

When I brought my friend's X to Ivey's he had a very large boost leak and could barely break 300whp with bolt ons and gsc s2 cams...we fixed the leak at the shop (coupler related) and bam...350whp. I had a very small boost leak from my VIII throttle body...had a dyno pull from before and after fixing it, and picked up a good 300rpm in spool. Boost leak test is a good place to start

We did a boost leak check, there was a leak which was repaired and after that she held boost fine.
I overlayed his with other cars I have done he isn't WAY off, but there is something up.

The customer installed alot of the parts himself so we would have to backtrack to figure out what is going on. I think he is bringing it back in.

Intake noise sounds like a ported shroud turbo, I have done plenty of cars with this setup NEVER heard one sound like this.

Why didn't you mention anything about the "unusual noise" in your first post? That is clearly the issue right there. Or maybe another boost leak as apparently there was one fixed during the tuning session. You already know what the problem is....

So...what is this post about again?

He wrote it on the guys dynosheet.. If I were the OP that would be my main concern.. IT's rare to see cars in perfect running order after owners do the wrenching, especially if they are inexperienced. I wish it was not the case but it is very true. All you can do is tune it to the level of physical well being of the car.

This is exactly why I'd rather pay the labor than pay for it in hp/tq numbers.. In my opinion. Hopefully it's not the high-flow because I'm bout to spend more money for it than the test pipe and would rather it not run worse lol.. Good Luck keep us posted!

Fair point, but I mean with an intake, UICP, and catback installs, thats something anyone can do. not a lot of rocket science involved. I left the downpipe and the gauges to the pros. In retrospect I should have left the FMIC to the pros, but i didn't and I paid for it in terms of a boost leak for which Ivey was able to detect and repair.

But I mean to be clear, my initial question to the community was whether or not my dyno results were in the expected range, given my set of mods.

Well, in that case, I would say yes, the results are a little low. I don't know how much the HFC is hurting you, but I'd estimate it could be as much as 10-15whp.

Ivey tuned my car and was at 335whp/tq. Mods were very mild...
Turboback w/ test pipe
UICP
Drop in filter

Everything else stock.

Thats quite a bit for an MR believe me, they make 23x stock here, so you are 120+ wheel HP over stock.

that really doesn't mean anything at all. different shop, different day probably different dyno.

no problem "awhitesti", i was just saying that when comparing numbers, you want the data to be as close as possible
