Its crazy how easy it is to get out of hand with these builds. I am considering a motor build down the road but want to stick with my MHI setup, however, I feel like I wouldn't be getting my money's worth for the build unless I go bigger turbo.

I could use some advice from someone like you, who has experience with various setups. First of all, I daily my car, so my goal has always been a low end torque beast with 500whp and DD reliable. I currently have an FBO 08 Evo X GSR, MHI Turbo, e85 - currently getting Rickerman tuned, whom btw has done a tremendous job with the car.

For the most part I love my current setup, however, would love to see more torque early on. Hence why I am considering a motor build.

Future Upgrades planned:

- CAMS
- Get 9.5 rpf1's with 265 rubber all around. (How do you like 10.5? does the driveability suffer vs 9.5)
- JDP Front Lip
- Weight reduction (Goal of 3300 to 3400 - while maintaining AC, Full Back Seat & Interior)

My question is -- should I even bother with a motor build as the dollars invested for the power goal I am seeking, or close to it, can be achieved by just getting cams. Obviously, the torque would still need to be dialed-in for safety with a stock motor.

OR go big.

Any guidance would be truly appreciated, just been going back and forth on this and would love to hear from you or other experienced builds on lessons learned or what not to do.
It's hard to give this advice. It depends totally on you and whether you can be happy with stock motor power levels and risk.

I pushed the stock motor too hard and blew it up, not fun and expensive. I liked my car when it was more stock as it was less of a headache.

Knowing what I know now, if you are daily driving it, I would keep it mild until you have another car. Honestly, keep stock motor for a daily, just isnt' worth to push a daily car that far.

Having more torque on a stock motor car isnt too safe, much better to keep that dialed back so I can see why you are torn.

I would go with 9.5" rims by the way.

My advice is if you can't live with stock motor torque levels, which I vote for doing that on a daily car, then build the motor but keep the same turbo for starters and increment up as necessary.

I went full retard when my motor blew up and you end up changing so much it becomes really expensive and easy to cause problems. PLus an MHI turbo on e85 and a built motor would be a fun *** setup.

Ok, this is annoying, I looked at other threads and my videos on there you just have to remove the S in HTTPS and it works.

Anyone know why the embed feature isn't working? Just trying to post some vids.
