2015 Evo X GSR - MAP 5858 V-Band Turbo Kit
Finally made it to the dyno with my new setup after getting some misfire issues worked out. Managed to put down 425whp/326wtq at 25psi on 93 and 472whp/358wtq at 26psi on e85 (read e65 on ethanol gauge). Kept the maps conservative to keep my engine as safe as possible until I can build it. Looking forward to taking full advantage of my setup once my engine is strong enough. Pulls great and is a huge improvement over the Cobb staged kits that I was previously running. Tune is by Calvin Dotson at Dotson Tuning and dynoed at Evolution Dynamics in Lewisville, TX. Full mods list below.

Drives great! Really happy with the turbo choice. The kit is awesome, everything was easy to piece together and works perfect, no complaints here. This was something I did in my garage over the course of a week or so, everything was simple and straight forward to install, no overcomplicated parts. Looks great too!

Thanks so much for the feedback! It is much appreciated! I have actually personally run the 5858 and about a half dozen cars and always had good experiences. Nice little turbo that seems to hold up well to abuse, plus you have a bunch more on the table as they really start singing when you get em into the 30's heheehehe

One forum calls "full boost" - 20 PSI, what is considered spool?
This kit seems like good power and safe because of later spool. But I'm concerned how much later is it?
If I got this it would go onto a stock block engine, what is a safe rev limit in a pure street setting. I don't drag, do long "pulls", much less do track sessions.
The center section is BB and air cooled? I thought water-cooled (edit) was standard these days or is there more to the story?

It's not too much later, on the stock turbo I'd feel it begin building boost at about 3k. It's a little later but not unmanageable.
A safe rev limit for the street would probably be stock, maximum 8k. Any more and you'll want to build the engine to do so safely.
Yes, center section is air cooled, I had to loop the stock coolant lines together. Haven't had any issues with excessive heat yet.

1. I already had it so figured why not just stick with it
2. I knew I wanted to tune with Calvin and knew he worked with the ap often
3. I like the map switching
4. I like the built in code reader
Once I get the engine built I'll probably switch it up. Looking to go flex fuel route in the future, so I'll see what my best option is that supports flex fuel but isn't too pricey to tune.

Got ya. The AP is handy, but EvoScan can do much more than the AP as far as data logging and gauge display. You do have to haul around a laptop however. You can also map switch with open source. I did like having the gauges built right in, but after I switched I used the money from selling my AP and bout real AEM gauges.
Check out www.wtftuned.com for your flex tune. TJ is doing mine (I had a faulty flex sensor from another manufacturer). All he works on is Xs and 90% of what his shop does is flex fuel tunes.
