iPods are probably a lot safer, if you're going to try & mess w/them while driving. The touch screen scares me on the iPhone. You don't get as much sensory feedback w/it like the iPod. I wonder how many accidents are caused because people are scrolling through their iPhones.

so far it seem the NAV will only RiP song from standard CD format, I just loaded up a CD-R with a ton of MP3s but it will only play them no way to get it to write them to the HDD. Also the book shows a second set of plugs in the rear of the arm rest does anyone have these I looked an I have only the 2 under the radio area. Page 8-11 of the multi comm system manual shows 3 RCA jacks, I only have 2 L R channel only.

I have three RCA plugs under my radio area, yellow, red, white. 2008 MR. I only use the red and white to hook up to the ipod head phone jack. When I use the AUX on the NAV unit with the ipod, the screen is just black saying something to the effect of "can't be displayed while driving" But the sound will still play through the speakers. Sure wish there was some way to download from the ipod to the head unit.

As much as I appreciate your audio/video preference, I have to think Mitsu put more into the performance of the X (especially MR) rather then satisfy the tech enhusiast. I personally liked the 30 Gigs to burn some of my fav disks to. That's a shload of songs to jam to while one hauls *** around the track...

Is the MP3 adaptor litterally just a cable with a headphone jack at each end? If so, I already have one of these and will tear into the dash Tuesday so I can plug my mp3 player phone into the stock system!

Let me know,

Keith

Well i have a GSR with the nav unit. I instaled the nav myself. Now for the ipod connector i installed the 3 rca connector from mitsu. You cut into the cubby hole and the connector is all ready there

As for the hole messing with the ipod while driving. I had a system on my last cars its called Drive and Play from harmon kardon. It was a very nice system to use. You have a LCD screen you can mount anywhere and you have a jog dial that works quite well. So you can concentrate on your driving while searching for a song prettily easily.

The jack that you guys are talking about at the bottom of the screen. I have been wondering what that was used for untill i baught the nav map update. Mitsu gave me the update cd to update my maps and it tell you to use that connector. For some reason my update cd worked fine without using the connector. I had a black device that i was supposed to connect to the jack and it seems like it would have needed to read a code from there to alow the cd to update the nav. I am figureing that it never needed it because i got the crack from OTARU for the dvd while in motion. In this crack i beleive that it already unlocks your hardrive permanently. This is why i think i didn't need the black device. As well it said tha update could take up to 2 hours, but only took about 10 mins Hope this stuff helps out a bit

I just have the base radio with no RCA jacks. People were talking about the actual IPOD adaptor taking the place of the RCA plug in on the back of the head unit so I was trying to find out what I need to do this myself rather than paying $59.00 for the IPOD adaptor from Mitsubishi.

The cable from Mitsibishi has three wires that go into an amplifier unit and on out to a head phone jack that plugs in to your IPOD / MP3 player.

There are good instructions in the regular lancer forum for installation of this cable. I followed them and it works great! I have my phone mount (used for Navigation and MP3 music) mounted on the left center vent, and I have the adaptor cable comming out right through the vent... works great!

Has anyone thought of tryong to swap out the headphone jack cable and installing a cable that connects to the bottom of an iPod and charges it while it is connected? Is there anyway of doing this. If not, it seems smarter and cheaper to just go with an after market headunit rather than having the Mitsubishi Nav system.
